Johnson County Services Directory available online
The Johnson County Services Directory, a reference book that provides information on more than 300 agencies or programs that offer services to county residents, is available online and in hard copy format. The spiral-bound directory includes listings for public and private agencies, institutions, nonprofits, organizations, and other community resources. More than 50 different service categories are represented, ranging from children’s programs, employment, food and nutrition, and housing to medical and dental care, recreation, veterans services, and more.
Each listing provides a summary of the services provided, as well as contact information, eligibility requirements, application procedures, fees, hours of operation, and other information. For ease of use, the directory organizes and lists each service alphabetically as well as by category. The directory also features a section with toll-free numbers and website addresses for services and support available nationwide.
The 400-page directory has been prepared as a public service by the Johnson County Council of Governments (JCCOG), with funding provided by Johnson County, the City of Iowa City, and the City of Coralville. The directory, which is updated every other year, was first printed in 1974. The current issue was published in Fall 2007.
The directory is available online at the JCCOG website at www.jccog.org/serviceDirectory. Printed copies are available at the Planning and Community Development Office on the second floor of City Hall, 410 E. Washington Street, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Cost per copy is $16. An additional $5 postage and handling fee will be charged for copies that must be mailed. For more information, call 356-5230.
